SD45T-2 from Elvas Tower here. Anyway, I've been shopping for mainline electrics. Good news maybe on that front.... I've found some TRAXX locomotives here.... sites.google.com/site/bobomsts/downloads/hbI do have a few questions though. 1. What's the wire height again? I forgot, and I do apologize. 2. What's the line Voltage, and is it AC or DC?

Hello,
1 - Wire height is 6.0 meters which seems to be a standard height for most European locos. 2 - The Borawian mainline network uses AC electrification with 25kV.
A TRAXX locomotive would be good as a successor of the ageing EF53s.

Thanks Bjorn.
Few more questions. There's multiple variations of the Traxx Locomotive.
When should these come to BNR? With the Dash 9s in the 1990s, or later? This will determine the builder. Either ADtranz or Bombardier, and also, the body style and class.
I don't think we need the locomotive to have more than two pantographs. Those seem to be for muti-voltage situations. Is there other line voltages on Borawia?

I would say they were introduced in the late 90s. Several new locomotive types were introduced around then, the Dash-9, TRAXX and the ED75 and ED86s. There may be other voltages in use somewhere in Borawia, but if so that is on more or less isolated networks such as suburban train-tram lines and such, nowhere a heavy freight electric would run, so a 2-pantograph version is the right one for BNR.

Thanks. The units will be the Class 145 model, which are part of the TRAXX series, but are also predecessors. Built by ADtranz. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DBAG_Class_145_and_146Units will be done to Deutsche Bahn specs, with BNR modifications. BNR Designation would be EC56 - Electric, 4 axle trucks, 5632 hp.

I believe the TRAXX locomotives are a fairly recent development beginning with the ALP46 and running through the IORE locomotives which I believe preceded the TRAXX locomotives. The ED75 I have been working on is based on the ALP46 delivered to NJ Transit, the initial order in 1999, additional units classed ALP46-A arriving in 2008. The IORE units were delivered to LKAB beginning in 2000 to 2004, with and additional order in 2011, with additional units constructed in 2013-14. I hope this timeline helps in the development of these units. Bob

Sorry Bob, a little clarification in that regard...
Which would put it in the timeline for the 1990s. While the Class 145 is before the formal introduction of the TRAXX line, it is considered a TRAXX locomotive.
